Frequently Asked Questions

Your Questions, Answered: Everything You Need to Know

Venous leg ulcers are sores that appear on the leg, usually around the ankle, because blood isn’t flowing properly in the veins. In the US, they’re common, affecting 1-3% of adults.

Things like getting older, being overweight, having blood clots in your legs, or past leg injuries can it make more likely to get them. They are very difficult to heal and cause a lot of pain and discomfort to those affected.

Treatment usually involves using bandages or stockings to help blood flow better, taking care of the wound, and fixing the problems in the veins that caused the ulcer in the first place.
